Live +EV is real, but it is also where the scanner is a lot more fragile. Odds move constantly, books update at different speeds, and a number that looks great can be gone — or already stale — by the time you click through.

Take more caution live than you do pre-game. Treat outsized EV as a warning until you have checked the score, the clock, and the line movement.

Odds change fast

During the match, a basket, a goal, or a pitching change reprices the whole board. Soft books are often a beat behind sharps and exchanges. That lag is where live +EV comes from, and also where false +EV comes from: the scanner may still be comparing a stale soft price to a sharp book that already moved.

Bet during breaks in the action

Live +EV is much more viable when the game is stopped:

• Timeouts
• Halftime / end of quarter or period
• Between innings
• Injury or replay stoppages
• TV timeouts

The market pauses long enough for several books to catch up, for you to read the box score, and for the price to still be there when you submit.
